iPhone OS 3.0 highlights
In an update to our previous story, Apple has released all the details of the upcoming iPhone version 3.0 of its OS. It seems like Apple is trying extra hard to compete, as the features pretty much bring the iPhone in line and even exceed current phones available. There are a few features however, that bring the iPhone in line with technology which has been available elsewhere for years.

Some of the notable additions are:
- copy and paste, finally, this is one that Apple has taken alot of slack for, so it's good to see it in there;
- iPhone spotlight, allowing you to search for items across your entire iPhone, very nice;
- landscape keyboard in lots more place, which not a new feature, landscape mode will be available in apps like mail, sync etc;
- Multimedia Messaging (MMS), enough said, this was essential; and
- maps can now be used from other applications via an API, this is great for developers and should spawn some great apps.
While the list above is not exhaustive, it certainly shows that Apple is serious about the iPhone.
