O2 in trouble again after network crashes

More evidence that O2 is to lose its exclusivity on the iPhone 3G from the Telegraph as leaked documents show that the exclusivity arrangement will end on October 9 with O2 and that Orange and T-Mobile are theapparent favourites to start marketing the 3G version of the iPhone. It is thought that O2 will retain the rights on the iPhone 3GS.

The news comes add fuel to the fire after the O2 network suffered more downtime, for the third time in a month. In addition, the data speeds that mobile users are able to get on the iPhone are under scrutiny. The handset supports High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) download speeds of up to 3.6 megabits per second (mbps) but hundreds of users have complained on Twitter that they are not achieving speeds of anything approaching that, often around 200-300kbit per second, around a tenth of what should be theoretically possible.
